The first in season Intermat rankings are out. Though only about half the teams kicked off their season over the weekend so there is still a lot of question marks that haven't been sorted out. The only change for ISU is Weatherspoon dropping to 10th at 174 after his loss on Friday.

A couple of things worth noting
-Alex Kocer from SDSU, who beat Weatherspoon, is now ranked 12th after he also beat #16 ranked Micah Barnes from Nebraska over the weekend.
-Markus Simmons beat the #3 ranked guy in NIAA before losing in OT 9-7 to #16 Freddie Rodriguez of SIU-Edwardsville in the Grandview Open finals.
-Nathan Rotert from SDSU jumped up to #5 at 197 despite losing to Downey on Friday night after he took out Studebaker from Nebraska over the weekend. It is safe to assume that Downey would be ranked 5th at worst at 197.

Harold Nichols this weekend. Since I don't know what schools will actually have all their starters there I haven't highlighted anybody.

Didn't know Rodriguez from SIU-Edwardsville was ranked. Simmons was right there with him, and If TrackWrestling was right (big "if", but still), Vega was up 9-3 on Rodriguez before getting pinned. Wasn't in attendance, but I am assuming he got caught with something since the graphic was showing that Vega was riding right before he got stuck. Think he's going to be a really good one for us.

Can Earl wrestle Harold Nichols or is that the last event he has to sit out?

"at worst 5th" is correct; '3rd' would be more accurate.

I thought it was 3 meets but other people have said two. I'm not sure which is correct. Either way, I don't know why he wouldn't be able to wrestle unnattached unless the NCAA's decision was really specific about not letting him wrestle period for the first few events.

I am not sure if Vega was up 9-3 or down 3-9. Track originally had Vega with the pin then changed it

Brilliant! Beating Studebaker was considered an upset; but losing to Downey wasn't. F'n Democrats.

Nathan Rotert from SDSU jumped up to #5 at 197 despite losing to Downey on Friday night after he took out Studebaker from Nebraska over the weekend.
