Getting a job. I thought he told me at NCAA that he was wrestling in Last Chance Open. Then I heard he was retiring from competition
I was always impressed by Sam.
The jump he made from year 1 to year 2 in the program was impressive. Felt like he was just scratching the surface too.
The fact that him and Bastida both fell short back to back years in R12 makes a guy sick.
As a coach you hope all of your guys are gunning for the starting spot. However, the best coaches let guys develop and give them opportunities to prove themselves. I believe that some coaches promise starting spots and try to stack the deck in favor of their favorites. Our coaches let guys prove it in public wrestle off's and early open tourneys. The Frost brothers are prime examples of this... They brought in Grice from the transfer portal but we had a guy in the room that proved he was better. They talked up Redding pre-season last year because he was a previous years R12 proven guy (much like Bockman) but we had a young guy in the room that proved he was better. May the best guy win!

Did he say he wants to go 133? I don’t think he’s struggling to make 125 unless he said that recently and I missed it
No but somebody above speculated it was because of the McGonagle transfer?

That was me and I have no information , just wondering. Also wondering if Brewer leaving entered into it at all . I do know VT has another 125 lber that was injured this season and is coming back.
