just got back from a trip to Walgreens to pick up a prescription for the ball and chain and it was lighting good off in the west. Judging by the pictures some of my family in Omaha had in Facebook, looks like Omaha had quite the storm a couple of hours ago.

From the radar, it looks like the heavier stuff is getting pushed to the SW of Des Moines; we may not get hit that hard

OMG! IT MIGHT RAIN!

Quick, start another thread to discuss the pending weather on the double!

I would think a site such as this:

Welcome to Weather Underground : Weather Underground

or

National and Local Weather Forecast, Hurricane, Radar and Report

would work better than CF for this purpose.

I always find it funny when people don't want to read certain threads but end up posting in them. :mask:

Some people like to discuss the weather.

We in Ames are as of 9:25 just getting a bit of thunder and lightning, but no real rain yet. The worst weather seems to be a couple of counties west of us, although the volume of thunder is increasing as I write.

ya the lightning is pretty intense but it looks like, once again, the rain will go around us for the most part unless it continues to build. im just hoping its not so damn humid tomorrow

Do you realize that it is very difficult to predict when and where a storm is going to dissipate?

This thing called radar is pretty good at letting you know if the storm headed your way is sticking together or falling apart.

Yeah maybe a little dramatic for describing thunder  ...but the lighting before that rumble of thunder was very close, very large and straight down to the ground.

Driving from Ames to Ankeny last night at 9:45 was the best lightning I've ever seen.

Heard that same thunder last night in Ankeny. Sounded like a bomb went off across the street and shook the house.

20% chance and we get 2 inches. 2 80%+ chances in the last week and we get 0. To some when the forcast is wrong it is no big deal, but to some of us try to plan what we do off the forecast.
