Seems like this Indy Bowl is just a short term thing with getting in through BYU?
It will be interesting in the future with our new commish to see what kind of better bowl lineup he can get for our conference.

I agree, I think this is where "the rubber really meets the road" on conference perception. We've heard from some, that with OuT leaving, the Big12 lost a lot of clout. If BY and team can line up some nice bowls that can quite some of the 'less than' talk.
Then again, the bowls have lost much of their luster in the last 3ish years with more and more star players sitting out.

One of the trips to Shreveport (Alabama game i believe and the kick was good), my dad and I were to drive all night. He was asleep, I was listening to late night AM radio (short stories, self-published stuff) and reports came in about the tsunami in Asia. I ended up driving all night as the reports kept me alert and awake. Crazy news.

Between all of the NY6 bowls becoming CFP games, and conference realignment, there's likely to be a fair amount of shuffling for 2026.
If the Big 12 is just absorbing BYU's bowl agreements, that would mean Independence in '23 and '25, and an "ESPN Events" bowl in '24.

Po’boys and casinos. That is the only thing I remember liking about Shreveport. The rest was like a trip to Ft Dodge.
Years ago a co-worker from a southern district asked me if i was going to the ISU bowl game in Shreveport. Told him Louisiana was the butt-hole of the country and Shreveport was the butt-hole of Louisiana so, no, I was not going. He than tells me Shreveport was his home town. Ah, oops.
I went to the 2001 game with a friend of mine from Iowa State. After the I-Bowl, we drove to Dallas for the Cotton Bowl (OU beat Arkansas) and went to a UTEP @ SMU MBB Game in between. Not a bad trip.

Went to both before. Quick thoughts.
(A) Yelk kick was good.
(B) Alabama fans (of that time) were the best oppo fan base I have ever partied with. Super nice. (Prob arrogant dholes now).
(C) Stayed at Horseshoe both times and it was actually decent.
(D) Whichever time was colder (honestly can’t recall), I was amazed that so many of the good seats (usually corp seats) were filled with LSU fans wearing complete camo hunting clothing, literally head to toe. Creepy Deliverance vibe.
(E) Shreveport itself was a dump.

The bowls may not factor into the playoff after 2026 at all. The agreements they made were just too buy out the last two years of the original contract.
I expect the CFP to go to a bid system so they don't have to deal with the bowl committees and can just deal with tourism bureaus directly plus it opens up other cities.
Going to be real interesting to see what the postseason outside of the playoff looks like going forward.
