I play free on Washington Post and AARP. I like to use the "place notes" on the "whole puzzle". I am sure some would say that is cheating?
But, I like to get to the strategic play quickly. The feature that allows you to cross out your own on line notes as you proceed is great. I like the on line play vs paper version, as you don't use your own messy pencil/eraser marks. It is of course quicker.

There are different levels of play.

Do you play online Sudoku on the DMR site? Looks like that rolls over to the USA today for me? Do use the "notes"?

I just print out the one from the online edition. The Sunday, Thursday, and Friday puzzles.
