If this is coming out before or during football season, then I think it needs to be a good tailgating beer, so something on the lighter side that can be consumed in large amounts. So I am thinking something along the lines of a pilsner, wheat, Belgian style, or even a lighter IPA.

Goose Island makes a “Cubby Blue” beer at their brewery in Chicago - maybe we can find someone to make a cardinal version?

And make it float . . . then we can have Cardinal and Golds!

How about a red, no one makes those anymore.... Everything is IPA.

That's a good idea, and goes with cardinal to some extent.

And as others have said, you can make one simple enough the Bushwater crowd will drink it, but with the right hops the snob crowd will appreciate it.

Isn’t Olde Main the only brewery in Ames that either cans or bottles their beer?

A bock or a doppelbock would be awesome.

Or given the time of year, a marzen could be good as well.

I'll add another vote for 'not an IPA'. Not that i don't enjoy a good IPA, but ******* everyone is pumping out far too many IPAs right now.
