So all are still wrestling but Meeks and Pestano. (Aside: i am somewhat amazed that JM has stuck with it all these years; it has to be frustrating to undergo such a radical reversal of fortunes).

Just re-watched Earl's loss to Keener. Keener is a 2x NCAA qualifier so the loss itself is not terrible, but the way he lost was more concerning. Trailing 4-3 with 50 seconds left there was a break in the action, Earl stood with his hands on his knees for 30 seconds, then didn't take a committed shot until there was 10-15 seconds left on the clock. Christian Pyles was calling the match and sounded dumbfounded by the strategy.

That describes most of Earl's losses his whole career .

Tough draw for Simmons. He'll have to beat #12 ranked Terao from American just to place.

Straw and DiBlas solidify their place in the lineup--both into the round of 12. Straw beats intermat #19 wrestler from Cornell in a wild match. Meanwhile, DiBlasi has racked up two more falls.

Quean in the quarterfinals is a nice surprise.

As a whole not going great for us thus far as 141(Meeks), 165(Pestano), and Powell(184) go 0-2. 125(Simmons), 174(Weatherspoon) and 285(Smith) are in the quarterfinals. A couple of big matches there, Simmons has a Dance from Virginia Tech and Weatherspoon has Wanzek from Mn then Valencia from Arizona State. 133(Hall), 149(Straw), 157(Diblasi), and 197(Harrington) are alive on the backside.
Valencia barely squeaked by amine

So for tomorrow morning
  • At 125, Simmons gets #12 ranked Josh Terao of American in the R12
  • At 133, Hall gets #16 ranked Anthony Tutolo of Kent State in the R12
  • At 149, Straw gets UR Coleman Hammond of Cal State Bakersfield in the R12. Though unranked, Hammond was an NCAA qualifier last year and went 2-2.
  • At 157 Diblasi gets UR Alex Mossing from Air Force in the R12.
  • At HWT Smith gets UR Newton Smerchek of Central Michigan
  • IAt 174, Weatherspoon gets #7 Zahid Valencia of Arizona State in the semifinals.

And we're out at 141 (0-2), 165 (0-2), 184 (2-2), and 197 (1-2)
