The 2003 team was incredibly talented but so damn injured.

QBs (by committee): Austin Flynn, Cris Love, Waye Terry

RB: Hiawatha Rutland (Injured against Northern Illinois), Michael Wagner, Stevie Hicks. I think Brian Thompson got some snaps too.

WR: Lane Danielsen, Jack Whitver, Lance Young, Jamaal Montgomery, Jon Davis (Best group of receivers in modern ISU? Or did Seneca just make them look that good?)

OL: Aaron Brant, Bob Montgomery (injured preseason), Luke Vandersanden (Got injured for the second year in a row I believe).

DL: Jordan Carstens (Injured against UNI or preseason? Can't remember), Tyson Smith (broke leg against UNI)

LB: Actually drawing a blank on our linebacking corps right now.

DB: Ellis Hobbs, JaMaine Billups, (Nick Moser, Steve Paris, DeAndre Jackson? They all came later right)?

ST: Tony Yelk (Broken Leg), Adam Benike.

The 2003 team did beat UNI...

Thinking about 2003, and that this year could be a repeat of that, depresses me though. We didnt just lose that year, we got smoked.

Hopefully the big 12 being down will at least make our losses not quite as lopsided. (in all but 1 of our games vs BCS opponents that year, we either were shut out, had 40+ points hung on us, or both)... and that one remaining game was a 36-7 loss to kansas.

What if Mess was calling plays for the 2003 team? Could they still beat this team?

The 2003 team would struggle to score on the 2013 defense. Then again the 2013 offense wouldn't score until crunch time so it's hard to tell what would happen.

Too early to judge. 2003 team got completely worked over nearly every week in the Big 12. That's a possibility for this team if the offense doesn't improve but I like the defense of 2013 and the heart of this team more than 2003. The 03 team seemed more than willing to lay down at the first sign of adversity.

Hopefully this year's offense isn't trying to pay homage to 2003's offense. Here were the results from that year:

Man, the sick thing about 2003 was we didn't score more than 10 points the last 5 weeks of the season, and excluding K-State none of those teams were that great.

It's depressing to think we have not taken the next step and are back to expecting a 2-10 season. I hope this is a blip in the road for CPR, but for the first time since his hire I'm not so sure.
Not starting the fire CPR campaign, just thought (and hoped) he was making greater progress with the program.

I think it is very evident that the offense stinks and has for awhile for various reasons. The sad thing is we do not see very much for changes to upgrade. Woody has three carries. Shontrelle was ineffective so far. We do not throw to White enough. Neeley gets a carry and does not run out of bounds when the clock was a problem. Working on our third or fourth center yet the tackles look like a sieve. We still have trouble blocking on the bubble screen. Coleman looks like a leader in game one and then we do not throw to him. Bundrage finally gets the ball downfield when he is moving instead of a bubble screen and we finally score. Where was that stuff before? SR has a bad foot in both fourth quarters and he is limited in offense. Do we know what a tight end does? My guess is CPR has no answers after five years of offense plays. He needs to bring in a good OC from a high school, a JC, or FCS, or CFL.
