Wednesday of game week, and I've read enough about ticket scanners. Let's talk about the game.

This is probably the most similar the two teams have been in as long as I can remember, and that's really intriguing to me.
-Two of the best coordinators, with two very good defenses, led by the secondaries.
-Both are conservative on offense, with new qbs, less than stellar Oline, and questions at WR.
-Iowa probably has the special teams advantage because of their punter, and just past track record.

Both sides is strength vs weakness, so it's seems like the team that makes less mistakes, doesn't turn it over, and maybe hits one or two big plays, will have the big advantage.

If we play sound football like we just did against UNI, we will win. Field punts, make 40 yard field goals and in, have solid kick/punt coverage, and don't turn the ball over. There will also be numerous opportunities for some takeaways as Cade isn't the most careful on his throws. Should've thrown 2-3 picks against Utah State but the defenders couldn't come down with the ball.

Feeling confident this time but I always feel confident against Iowa since Campbell's third year because we always have more talent than them. If we have 0 turnovers we'll win
Zero turnovers would be huge. At least Iowa broke the long streak of no turnovers in the game last year. We just gifted it too much too, and made the game close.

Throwing a pick at the 5 and fumbling on the GL will do that to ya.

My main idea is that if ISU gets up by like two scores, they put the nail in the coffin.

A win is ideal but otherwise get out with no injuries because I think there's some potential for ISU to play some good ball as the season carries on.

From the little bit I've seen from hawk fans, I don't think they are giving our defense enough credit. They're enamored with the Iowa defense, but I don't think they've recognized that the Iowa St defense is on the same level in the past few years. Even last year, when they only put up 7 points in the game, it's because the Iowa offense was so bad.

We know our D is good.
Will we be able to run the ball? Norton and Sama looked good.
Pass the ball? Noel, Moore, Dean, Burkle, Ngoyi, Higgins, Stanley....
Will Iowa have the edge on special teams this go round? We looked good last week.
I think we win. Plan to watch at Diamond Jo's sportsbook near IA/MN border.

This is the most aggravating thing! We usually have more talent in all phases other than punter, of course. But we just manage to flub it up. The fact that an offense with Purdy, Hall, Kolar, etc could never beat UI, but a Dekkers led offense did, in kinnick no less? Absolutely mind boggling

We make a half-season's worth of mistakes against Iowa every. damn. year. Solve that and you're 75% of the way to a victory.

It's more important than ever because a turnover could cost you a much higher percentage of your possessions in a given game compared to seasons past.

This right here. 2021 at Trice, take away a single-digit number of screwed-up plays (maybe even fewer than five) and the Cyclones win that one.

I like our chances.

While it was “just” UNI, and while the early pick 6 changed the game, the Cyclones performed as well overall, offensively, defensively and on special teams as I can remember in an opening game.

Our secondary Is elite. The DL is solid, and the whole defense is deep.

Becht looks like a good game manager at QB, and steady. Two of our stable of RBs showed some juke and juice. Cyclone TEs and wideouts looked capable.

Return and coverage teams were as good or better than I remember in a long while - maybe since Johnny Majors‘ teams?

One game does not a season make, but I‘m tasting some kool-aid today.

Need to throw a deep route early. Just have rocco absolutely launch it. This does two things, 1, helps him relax and get some adrenaline out, second, if the receiver is even close to open, Iowa has to suddenly be prepared for it
