If Casey needs surgery, then maybe he can use a medical RS and save a redshirt for later if he wants to be a six year guy.

I'd think he'd need to use his traditional rs first. Med RS typically involve a loss after the rs has already been used up.

You can take medical RS at anytime during your career as long as the injury was early enough in the season and they don’t compete again. I’m sure Casey will only use his RS as he should be ready to go by the beginning of season. I’m sure they would like to get him 15-20 matches.
