Utah (418) (5.7), West Virginia allowed (362) (4.5)
UCLA (466) (6.4), K State allowed (364) (6.2)
Missou (511) (7.2), Texas allowed (390) (5.7)
Virginia Tech (404) (5.4) Okie State allowed (518) (5.6)
Stanford (390) (6.5) TCU allowed (369) (6.0)

I think that the superior offenses in the Big XII have forced the D to get better. They have to be really really good just to compete. I think this notion needs to die because its clearly just better offenses in the league and not poor defense.

Said in another thread but ISU, Texas, KSU and TCU are 40% of our conference that played great D most of the season.

They're just as good as the top half of any other conference defensively. Are there 6-7 teams in the ACC, SEC or Big Ten playing much better D? No.

ISU and Texas big improvement on that side of the ball flips the league from 20% to 40% playing good D. Oklahoma can and will figure it out on that side, from time to time they dominated this year.

Way up there
Big 12 defenses are battle tested. We see more and more teams from other p5 leagues moving to the spread offense. It's still somewhat of a novelty in other conferences, big 12 defenses have been facing it for years.

Which is exactly why I felt we matched up well with Memphis. I'm very surprised DM didn't have a big day but I think that was on the Oline more than anything. Defensively we have seen offenses comparable to them all year

Duh!
Through the ISU game, the big 12 is 2nd in points allowed of the p5 only to the big 10.
Big 12 25.6
Big 10 20.4
Sec 34.8
Acc 31.4
Pac 35.3

The B10 is playing down in bowls this year, since they didn’t make the playoffs. Was watching the Kentucky and Wake Forest game and thought, if this involved a B12 team(s); they’d be getting savaged right now. Instead the points/offense was lauded.

Big ten proving to be by far the best conference this year.

Another reason is that Memphis was keying in on him all game. They said they wanted to make us one-dimensional in the lead up, and they pretty much did. Loaded the box on a lot of plays. We took what they gave us.
