I am working on my season predictions column that will be posted later on today. Here is some math that I just put together regarding Iowa State vs. the Big 12 South.

Here are some records.

(VS. This year's South schedule)

VS. Texas - The Cyclones are 0-7
VS. Oklahoma - The Cyclones are 5-67
VS. Texas Tech - The Cyclones are 1-7

VS. Oklahoma State - The Cyclones are 17-25
VS. Baylor - The Cyclones are 5-4
VS. Texas A&M - The Cyclones are 1-9

- Against this year's South schedule, Iowa State is 6-81 all-time.
- Against last year's South schedule, Iowa State is 23-38 all-time.

This is all history obviously. Those records have nothing to do with the 2010 team. Just the numbers. I thought I'd share them with you.

Only winning record is against Baylor and it's only by one game...

This is why I don't think we will pick up a win against any of the Big 12 South teams this year.

TT is a possibility ONLY because we have them at home and they are under a new head coach and system. But I don't think we compare to them athletically at all. The quality of athletes that Texas schools get is just at a different level IMO.

Yes, our football history is among the worst in the country. The outsiders that said that we don't belong during the whole conference fiasco, probably have a point. Hopefully all that changes with Paul Roads.

The non-conference doesn't matter. The south doesn't matter. We just need to beat all the teams in the north and win the division. The rest will work itself out.

The South matters greatly going forward since we will play them every year
