Every Day Carry Knives

Just lost a griptylian that I had for a few years that fell out of my pocket somewhere in the last month replaced it with a bugout. Got the stainless steel 20cv blade with some cool limited edition scales. So far I love the size and weight. Considering upgrading the scales to titanium at some point as the only complaint I have with the current scales is the VERY slight flex. Overall I'm in love with it.

What are some knives everyone else really likes for everyday carry, work, survival, etc? I'm a knife nerd and love to talk about blacksmithing as well.

I just carry a little Buck or Gerber pocket knife. Good enough to open mail or a fertilizer bag. Not really noticeable in my pocket.

Any particular one you like best? I love the Milwaukee box cutter. Thing flips open like brand new every time for years.

I carry a Gerber Dime. I think I use it for the pliers more than the knife. But even that isn't much more than a letter opener.

The spyderco endura emerson opener would be the perfect knife if it didn't have a defense grind on it. 3.75" blade, thin, light, can't feel it in your pocket, one hand deployment. I love it but it wedges on food really bad. I need to have a blacksmith put a more even grind on mine cuz I don't plan on stabbing anyone lol

Benchmade Griptilian with the partially serrated blade. I think I've had this one for about 4 years and the one before that I had for 5-6. Before that I carried some variation of a Gerber (I was more prone to loosing them then so I bought cheaper knives). I like the thumb stud for opening it, and the little outside thumb release to close it. Never liked the knives where you have to put your thumb across the inside of the blade to unlock the knife.

Even though I'm more management than field engineer now, it's still nice to have one handy.

My weekend knife. It holds sentimental value because 1) it was helpful in surviving in a pacific NW forest while being wrongfully chased by the cops, 2) it helped free numerous US POW's in Vietnam and 3) helped the Afghan rebels during their fight with Russia. It's a very special knife.

Hogue Deka Gen2 in Magnacut. I think their axis lock functions better than BM and the factory edge is great. Also Magnacut is the all rounder steel I would want in something I carry daily.

You've obviously never had to free POW's from a Vietnam prisoner camp or had to render judgment on a man who conspired against your family.
