Instead of posting updates about the future Cyclone in the recruiting thread I decided to start a new thread where all the news/updates on Long can be posted at.

His high school season started tonight. They travelled down to Arkansas to face Malik Monk. They are down by two with 2 minutes left. Jakolby has 31 points.

They ended up losing by about 5. Long finished with 34 points. Good to see him get off to a quick start. I'm predicting that he winds up top 100 on Rivals before its all said and done.

Thanks for sharing. Seems to have a pretty sweet stroke and good body control. Of course, Monk is at a whole other level. Just another Kentucky stud for Cal. He certainly struts it a lot, but when you're at home and you're that good, I guess its typical.

That's a stretch. There was nobody playing tough defense on him. It won't be that easy in college. If he was a 6'6 combo maybe.

Yes, but not the top offensive players as freshman. They are usually large guards, SF's, or PF's. At least not in a P5 conference. Best offensive player is high expectations.

A box score would be interesting. Impressive none the less, but even more so if shot with half way decent %'s.

Long reminds me some of Stinson. Is that a fair comparison? Strong guard that can take it to the hoop. Maybe a little like Kane too?

Hard to say. I think his physique is bigger than Stinson. Stylistically it's too early to tell without more footage. I think Long can play "bigger" and I don't remember if Stinson had that.

Stinson was pretty big when he got here, but he was also 20 I think

Love his demeanor on the court, also I hope we get Kentucky in the SEC challenge next year so we get to play Monk (and a lot of other great recruits)
