Out of nowhere this week I've been thinking about what my favorite sports team to root for each year has been (probably spurred on by Cyclone Football team being very fun to watch). Below is my list. What would yours be?
You can be pretty loose with your definition of team and what year to put based on the season. Also I picked last 20 years but feel free to extend or shorten based on your age and/or interest in sports. I'm sure I'm missing something or miss remembering but that is 20 years and the only real championship is a team I no longer root for. Also it's interesting to see how Cyclone sports have dominated my interest recently (even though the Vikings were probably right behind them most years even when they weren't that great) I know I didn't really start following Cyclone athletics very strongly until 2000.

1999 - Dallas Stars Stanley Cup (I followed after team move from MN now a Wild fan)
2000 - Minnesota Vikings (11-5) lost in NFCC
2001 - Cyclone Football (7-5) Lost to Alabama in bowl
2002 - USMNT World Cup - Lost to Germany in Quarter-final
2003 - Minnesota Timberwolves (58-24) Lost in conference finals
2004 - Cyclone Football (7-5) Won the Independence bowl
2005 - Cyclone Football (7-5) Lost to TCU in bowl
2006 - Minnesota Twins (96-66)
2007 - Minnesota Wild (82-44-28)
2008 - Minnesota Vikings (10-6) lost in WC
2009 - Minnesota Vikings (12-4) lost in NFCC
2010 - Minnesota Twins (94-68)
2011 - Cyclone Basketball (23-11) Round of 32
2012 - Cyclone Basketball (23-12) Round of 32
2013 - Cyclone Basketball (28-8) Big 12 Camps, Sweet 16
2014 - Cyclone Basketball (25-9) Big 12 Camps
2015 - Cyclone Basketball (28-8) Sweet 16
2016 - Cyclone Basketball (24-11) Big 12 Camps
2017 - Cyclone Football (6-4 so far) (Vikings can pass if season keeps up but to this point it's Cyclone Football)
