Hi Fellow Fanatics,

I'm the trustee of a house in Ottumwa for sale. Figure can't hurt to post it here. Would be a good investment -- beautiful exterior, right on the golf course. Inside is a little dated (1970's / 80's stylistically). Would be an excellent find for an investment property / rental.

Feel free to DM me, or you can go thru the realtor.

One major problem with this house. I think we all know what it is. Love the vacuumed carpets though. The basement is pure gold.. Don't change it (whoever buys it).

Anyone ever played that golf course?
That would be the Ottumwa Country Club, it was purchased a couple years ago by a few people after the previous group had run it into the ground. I went to HS with one of the owners, but I have never taken him up on his offer to golf there. Guy is a huge EIU booster, and they hold their annual EIU booster meet the Squawks at the course.

Really that side of Ottumwa is not a bad place to live, close to IHCC, bars and BBQ close by, but you are in Ottumwa.

But it’s in Ottumwa

It's my understanding that some people do still live there!

In somewhat seriousness, Ottumwa is a very nice town in some regards, with lots of character. Especially that NE part of town around the county club and Indian Hills, there are some nice neighborhoods. Of course, like many mid-sized regional hubs in the midwest, it's middle class is not what it once was.

There are still some good employers (like John Deere -- not as many workers as in the hayday) and the community college, though.

What "one major problem?" Is there a cryptic Hokeye logo hidden somewhere?

I'm just saying. I think 10k in paint and flooring would spruce this baby up. i like the house but will never move back to iowa

I am 100% ignorant of the Ottumwa housing and contracting market, but $10k translates to less than $4/sqft installed to redo the floors on the main level only. I think you’re low, and I don’t think it would make $40k in price difference.
