Thought I'd start a Friday 5 of my own today. I want to know what your 5 favorite HBO series are. I just binge watched True Detective Season 1 yesterday (No class Thursdays and slow week) and was thrilled with it. That being said here's my top 5:

1.) Game of Thrones
2.) True Detective (Season 1)
3.) Night Of
4.) The Sopranos
5.) Rome

I know a lot of people have "The Wire" as their favorite, but I couldn't stay interested after the first season.

1.) True Detective (S1) - I ******* love this show. I rewatch it every few months. McConaughey is freaking fantastic
2.) Band of Brothers - All time great TV. Still looks as good today as it did 15 years ago.
3.) GoT - I am on a hold with this until Winds of Winter comes out
4.) Rome - I am sucker for the Ancient Period
5.) The Wire

Oh, c'mon, surely there are some Entourage people here? Not the best show in terms of artistic quality, but c'mon, Vinny and the boys.

I have a hard time considering True Detective a good show. The first season was beyond great, but I can't consider True Detective a good show when 50% of it is complete garbage.

Couldn't agree more. My one complaint on the show is the villain. I don't think he was anywhere near intelligent enough to pull off what he did.

So many good ones to choose from. True detective entourage(no matter how bro-y it got) boardwalk veep. If I ever make it past episode 3 of the wire I'm sure that'll be in my top 5 if what people say is true

Newsroom/Boardwalk Empire/Band of Brothers/The Brink/True Detective(1 more than 2) are all great as well. Enjoyed Entourage but by no means is it in the same ballpark as a lot of these others shows. Flight of the ConChords, Veep, and Eastbound and Down are all ******* hilarious.

P.s. - If The Wire isn't in your top 5 it is because you either haven't seen it, in which case I suggest you go start watching it right away, or you are wrong.

That's what I did. I kept putting it off and off. Probably watched all the seasons in 3 weeks. Couldn't stop watching.
