Is it or is it not illegal to not display your DOT issued license plate on the front of your car? I've heard it both ways, from different law enforcement officers.

If it is indeed illegal, the state could make a ton on revenue from ticketing about every fifth vehicle on the road.

Not sure why this is in the basketball forum, but it is Iowa law that you have your front plate displayed on your vehicle (not inside).

Let's rank this one in the grand scheme of traffic violations. I'd agree. Costs more to produce the plates than there is value in writing someone up for not having one.

Can someone tell me why we need one in the front anyway? If I'm speeding, you're going to turn around and follow me anyway right?

I saw some DB driving a Lexus the other day with one of those long skinny European license plates on the front and a regular Iowa plate on the back. What's that supposed to prove?

That's pretty much the same thing as the DBs who still wear 1986 Rose Bowl sweatshirts....
