Its an old Samsung Galaxy 8 .. Screen just goes black on it, super weird because it will work for a bit and than stop working.

I don't know if you have googled the issue much, but it looks like it is the firmware crashing. Have you tried doing a forced reboot by holding the volume down and power keys for ~10 seconds?
