Iowa making $50 mil more than ISU in TV money is on the horizon but they do fund additional sports. And I wonder if with the additional money there will be any pressure to add back the sports they recently cut. Probably not.

At some point I do see a chunk of the TV bonanza being paid to athletes directly. But it won’t be what the NCAA is suggesting where it’s a $30K base to all athletes on top of their scholarships, clearly driven by Title IX. The schools will want to pay the lion’s share to revenue sports and within those sports to the highest value athletes like it is now with NIL. The TV networks and power schools driving this bus will break away from the NCAA before they will support this +$30K for everyone model.

ISU’s best chance to remain competitive with or even surpass Iowa is to dominate the new Big 12 in football and make the playoffs. Do that 3 or 4 times in the next decade and we’ll be in good shape with the next round of TV deals.
