Iowa State soccer travels to Notre Dame a week from today for an exhibition game in South Bend. The first game of the season is August 21[SUP]st[/SUP] at South Dakota State. The Cyclones finished the 2014 season 7-11 overall, 1-7 in the conference. Last year’s victories came against Mississippi State, Saint Louis, Iowa, North Dakota State, Northern Colorado, Drake & TCU. Iowa State has been youth heavy the last two seasons, so the experience and playing time for especially the junior class will hopefully pay off. The Cyclones graduated five in 2014 and have only two seniors this season.

Some Players to Watch in 2015:

  • Koree Willer (Jr.)
Koree was named First Team All-Conference in 2014 and was Iowa State’s Offensive MVP.She’s expected to be, once again, a crucial piece to the Cyclones’ offense as she looks to build upon a strong showing last season.Koree started all 18 games as a sophomore and placed herself in the top 10 in Iowa State history for points in a season (22), goals in a season (10) & game-winning goals in a season (3).In the Big 12, Koree finished 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] in goals & goals per game.Career-wise, Koree is in the top-10 in points (36), goals (14) & game-winning goals (6).

  • Madi Ott (Jr.)
Madi was a part of the defensive unit that tallied four shutouts in 2014 while she played 90 minutes in all 17 games she played in last season – 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] on the squad with 1,530 minutes played.Madi was named Defensive MVP last season.

  • Kourtney Camy (Jr.)
Kourtney was also one of the defensive starters in 2014.She’ll need to

  • Maribell Morales (So.)
Maribell saw limited minutes in 2014 due to injuries. In her 540 minutes of action, Maribell compiled one goal & tied for the team-high three assists.

  • Mia McAleer (Redshirt Jr.)
Mia really started to come on late in the season, starting the final seven games.

  • Haley Albert (Sr.)
One of two seniors on this year’s squad. In 2014, she was named Team MVP.She started all 18 games playing a total of 1,503 minutes.Haley tallied 12 shots, four of which were on goal.

The Cyclones had a home attendance total of 6,384 in 2014, an average of 798. That was good for 5[SUP]th[/SUP] best in the Big 12.

Finally, Iowans love cheering on Iowans. This year’s team has six Iowans on the roster including four freshmen.

Looking forward to the season getting underway!
