I know I'm going to probably be WAY off on some of these (especially OL), but just wanted to see what everyone's thoughts were?

QB: Becht, Kohl, Hughes
RB: Norton, Sanders, Harris, Sama
TE: Dean, Moore, Burkle/Keller/Brahmer
WRX: Higgins, Gaines, Black
WRZ: Stanley, Jackson, Ngoyi
WR?: Noel, Bitter, Adams
LT: Miller, Neal, Maro
LG: Hufford, Akinshilo
C: Peterson, Bonifas, Sauser
RG: Simmons, Pauls
RT: Treiber, Hasert, Maro

DE: Okoli, Ezeogu, Same
NT: Orange, Singleton, Hawk?
DT: Onyedim, Singleton, Krezek
DE: Petersen, Adam, Mendeszoon
LB: Vaughn, Ellis, Marshall
LB: Lovett, Imming, Sadowsky
LB: McLaughlin, Marshall, Willich
CB: Purchase, Porter
SS: Verdon, McGee
FS: Freyler, Howard
CB: Tampa, Crosby?
STAR: Cooper, Patton?

No idea on ST's?

*I will say... after filling this out, I'm more worried about this season than I was before. Seem very thin in a LOT of areas. WR, OL, DL (especially the interior without Lee), DE's are really unproven outside of Petersen, lots of young and new bodies at LB, great starters at DB, but very little depth. And ST's is a total crapshoot... which will cost us a few games this year (as always).

I know I'm a Debbie Downer by nature, but this depth chart is kinda scary IMO. Some potential is there, but really unknown.

Dominique Orange could flourish with starter snaps. I have faith in Rasheed. Not worried there.

I have full faith in Rasheed and in Orange. Orange is a beast, not worried about him at all. I just feel like the interior of the DL has 3 really good players in Orange, Onyedim, and Singleton, but it doesn't look like there's anything after them. They will get worn out quick, and we definitely could not afford any missed time for any injuries there.

Is Essex still around? I thought he was being talked about at some point last year but haven’t followed closely.

I personally don't know why they roll out a 2 deep with a 4-3 defense. We rarely play that. Like hardly ever except for goal line or short yardage. If I were to guess (assuming Dekkers, Brock, Hanika, Lee, Remsburg are out for Game 1 at minimum), I'd go:

QB: Becht, Kohl, Hughes
RB: Norton, Sanders, Harris
WRX: Higgins, Gaines, Black
WRZ: Stanley, Essex, Ngoyi
WRM: Noel, Bitter, Jackson
TE: Dean, Brahmer, Keller
F: Burkle, Klotz
LT: Miller, Maro
LG: Hufford, Hasert
C: Peterson, Bonifas
RG: Simmons, Akinshilo
RT: Neal, Treiber

RE: Peterson/Ezeogu, Adam

MLB: McLaughlin, Lovett, Sadowsky
WLB: Vaughn, Ellis, Imming
CB: Tampa, Crosby
CB: Purchase, Porter, Norwood
S: Cooper, McGee, Smith
S: Verdon, Patton, Thompson
Star: Freyler, Howard

Wow I didn't realize that we had some kids that could be facing suspensions. How the hell did I not hear about this until now? I guess I should edit my previous post.

Yeah, you wouldn't know by the thread title, but the details have been slowly leaked from the premium board if you want to sift through all of it.

They're facing criminal charges that will also roll into NCAA violations, I don't see how they won't at minimum be suspended for some amount of time. It already cost Jeremiah Williams his spot at Illinois.

Ankeny, IA.
From what I understand, Sanders would be the starter at RB if the season started tomorrow. WR has a clear top 3 (Higgins, Noel, Stanley), and a bunch of youngsters with loads of potential. DL will be a mix of Onyedim, Orange, Singleton, Petersen, Ike and the Auburn transfer. I don’t expect a bunch from Adam, always tough for JUCO guys that don’t enroll early.

Linebacker is my biggest concern on the defense. Vaughn is rock solid but a lot to prove after him, but we recruited really well there the past few cycles so some young faces will have to step up.

DB group is the best on the team by a wide margin.

I’m with clonedude on this one. If the suspensions happen as expected then this is the least amount of returning experience I can ever remember. But I’m also skeptical of our prospects when we return lots of players from a losing team. So I’m going to take the optimistic approach that a lot of these new guys have talent and will forge a winning mentality. We’ll find out a lot in the first 2 games vs UNI and Iowa. I’m glad they’re both at home. I don’t think we would want want to put this young group on the road right away.
