Mangino at Valley?

I go to Valley, and helped escort Mangino down to Coach Swenson's office for a meeting. As we're probably out on Raridon, I was wondering what or who you guys think this might be about?
I know we've had interest in Valley WR Dominique Dafney, but as a linebacker, which wouldn't make much sense to have Mangino in for, and seems a little too early for soph QB Rocky Lombardi.

Pretty standard stuff. They use to come to my highschool and we only had one recruit and he was very highly ranked and ISU had no shot at him and he had already committed elsewhere. Funny thing is we did end up having two kids in NFL camps from my class and neither was him.

Coaches recruit areas not the positions they coach. Mangino is going to be hitting Iowa, KS JUCOs, OU and TX.....I think

I'm aware of that part, it just seemed odd to send in the Offensive Coordinator for someone who would potentially be a walk-on or one of the last scholarship spots on the other side of the ball?

I think you're thinking of Quinton Curry. I know its a cliche comparison, but he's absolutely one of those Jimmy Graham-basketball flex kind of guys. 6'6" and is extremely mobile for his size and age.

Yeah, understand that part, it was just interesting to see a higher-up there as the top two recruits are someone who is more than likely out of the picture, and another who would more than likely be a preferred walk-on

He's probably there more for the Valley coaching staff than any one specific player. You have to keep coaching staffs happy too because they can drive a kid in a certain school's direction too.

Courtesy calls on the coaches are important for sure. Raridon got to see the Iowa offensive up close last weekend. Maybe we think we have a chance to at least re-open the conversation. Who knows?

I went to Valley, but lived in Urbandale for over 10 years, so seeing Campos and Lazard excel as freshman makes me a pretty happy guy.

Raridon's dad is really pushing him towards Notre Dame, and away from really either of the state schools from what I've heard from him. We're certainly not off the list, but I would be shocked if he doesn't end up at Oklahoma or ND
