Anybody ever been in Vegas for opening weekend of the NCAA tourney? I've researched watch parties at the casinos but there aren't a whole lot of them posted. If you've been, where did you go and how much was it?

we go every year although this year we are going for the big 12 tourney.

I just go to random sports books each day. no specific spots.

Me and a couple buddies are going out this year. We've never done it before, but we were just planning on going to some different sports books and stuff ourselves.

From what I have seen in Vegas the more expensive the hotel room the nicer the sports book.

We are staying at Harrah's, and not to far down the road is Ceaser's Palace which has a pretty incredible sports book, we kind of planned on going there as our main destination.

March madness is without a doubt the BEST time to go to Vegas. There is no better time. The only comparable time for me is over new years during bowl games.

Usually I'll go with a few buddies, and we'll bet on most of the games. There is nothing like beging hammered, betting some cash on the game, and having every game on an enormous big screen tv.

To answer the OP's question, just find a casino with a nice sports book. They will have all the games on there.

It's a helluva time. Typically to get seats in a sportsbook, you'll have to bet a certain amount. Tons of specials and parties around. Here is a good resource:

On the road...
Booked my stay in October and got one hell of a deal. Myself and four other guys are staying at The Orleans(off the strip) in a suite for $200/night. It's actually for a bachelor party but there isn't a better time to do it. They have a new sportsbook that is supposedly one of the best around and they don't charge you to sit and watch games like other sportsbooks do during this time. I will be there loud and proud with my Cardinal and Gold on. We fly in at 8am Friday morning and fly out at 10pm Sunday, so we will be able to watch all of the games those three days. Granted it's 40 min flight for us to PHX.

Also, make sure you get to sportsbook early if you want to have seats.

Agree with this. Some buddies and I went a few years back. Had a blast. But one of us had to wake up a couple hours before game time just to get a table. Every place is packed. Also games are starting at 9am out there.

Games starting early are great. Gives you the rest of the afternoon/night to do whatever it is that people do in Vegas...

The Orleans sports book is one of the best places to watch games. $10 buckets of beer ($2/beer). Food near by. Plenty of seating.

Just hanging in the sportsbook can get awkward. Those seats are designed for people who are likely spending a lot more than you are, so you may be get pushed to put bets in every so often.

I definitely vote moving around. Watch a game/2hr block in lots of different locations.

One spot we found, which may sound weird, was the New York. I didn't love the casino and it is kind of a silly place, butthere is a great setup for watching games. There is a sports bar directly above a smallish sports book. When we went during the tournament it was near empty, and the beer/food was decent and cheap. And when you wanted to put in a bet you were just 2 minutes away, and it was quick to put in.

The slowest sports book, everytime, was palazzo.
