KJ said in press conference that we will send 15 guys

Taking a stab at who

125 - Larson and Boston
133 - Hall and Simmons (can guys wrestle unattached)
141 - Dante and Meeks
149 - Moreno & Briceno
157 - Logan and Nardo
165 - Tanner
174 - Lelund
184 - Dane
197 - Marcus????
Hwt - Quean & Scanlan?

My guess is last spots would go between Briceno, Scanlan and Simmons
Ones in bold I think are guaranteed
Marcus and Boston, I think everybody including the coaches hope will go
Doubtful Downey wrestles at Midlands, but that would be a pleasant surprise

Guys can wrestle unnattached at Midlands. I'm not sure if they count as part of the 15 or not in that case.

I agree with the 11 you have bolded being locks so for the four remaining my total guesses (assuming Simmons doesn't count in the 15) would be...

Boston
Elgi
Briceno
Scanlon

If Harrington or Downey go then I think they'd take Scanlon's spot first and then Briceno. It also wouldn't totally surprise me if DiBlasi also went unnattached.

I would think the 12th and 13th would be Boston and Harrington.

so the last 2 would be between Briceno, Scanlan, Simmons and I could see DiBlasi. I would tend to lean towards Scanlan because of dedication to program. But future is Simmons and DiBlasi

I looked at who Iowa sent last year and they had 17 total, 14 attached and 3 unattached. That implies to me they get 15 plus unnattached. But the limit could have been different last year.

Follow up question, who are our ten scorers? Assuming no Downey or Harrington.

4 are easy. Hall, Moreno, Weatherman, Weatherspoon. Then I think you have both Meeks and Dante, Pestano, and Smith for the next 4. They all should win a couple matches. Then I think you add Boston if he's there and on weight. So you end up with one spot left among Larson, Egli, Breitenbach, and Rodriguez-Spencer. Not sure who has the most upside among that group, especially since I haven't looked closely at what the brackets will look like at their weights.

Anyone heading to Evanston for this? I'm flirting with the idea of it. Have some friends in Chicago I've been telling for awhile that I will visit, midlands would be a perfect excuse.

I wish. Wife says I should go to Cliff Keen next year, so might do that.

Already going to New York for a week for Nationals and doing a mission trip to Haiti in Jan, so my travel budget is used up

Scorers, I think would be
Hall, Dante, Meeks, Gabe, Tanner, Lelund, Harrington, Boston, then need to look at participants. Could see any combination of remaining.

You seem fairly confident that Boston will be back down at 125. Hopefully you're hearing that news, because that would be great for this team. Larson has been far from impressive this year and Boston is a guy I feel can beat almost anyone when he's on.

I think the plan is for Boston to be at 125 again. It is the season of HOPE, so I hope we can see what he can do at 125.

Same with Marcus

I have been anxious to see Boston, Harrington and Downey wrestle all year.

Yes, Boston is expected to wrestle at Midlands at 125. This has not only been a weight issue with Boston. He is dealing with other issues and no I'm not going to get into it further. I have been told that Harrington will also be at Midlands. Downing will be available at Va Duals. I'm guessing 2 of Egli, Briceno and Scanlan will be the last two entries and all three will go if someone is injuried between now and Midlands. Some RS Freshmen could wrestle unattached but they have to meet certain criteria so not sure if any qualify or will wrestle. My guess at point wrestlers would be: Boston, Hall, Meeks, Rodr, Moreno, Weatherman, Weatherspoon, Harrington, Smith and then they will choose between Rod-Spencer and Brietenbach. Only other option would be Dane if they thought 184 was easier than 157.

I just know KJ during press conference said 15 to compete in Midlands. I assume that is the total numbers we are taking

Nice work Andegre.

I would switch Tyler Swope to Quean Smith at hwt, I think Scanlan is 2nd string.

You could put Kyle Larson at 125 for Iowa State, but guess both will hopefully end up going

Dome is home, you are 100 % correct, if UNI gets 15 this may be the direction they go;
125: Gaul (Petey hurt, not public how badly yet)
133: Alber
141: Jauch, Koethe
149: Thomson, Stewart (Wolfy done competeing, Jensen no longer on the team)
157: Steiert
165: Moore
174: Foster, Luhan (Lux)
184: Caldwell
197: Krum, Bartels
HWT: Cabell, Everard

Seen this on UNI board. Dylan Peters hurt, as is Bartel at 197, Cooper Moore defaulted out of last 2 tournaments, Jenson and Gunnar Wolfensberger hurt

Done, I also set Egli as the starter at 197 instead of Harrington.

Cywr89 is correct that something more than weight with Boston. But was not told what, so didn't push for info. Hope he is okay. Excited to see him wrestle
