Gibson rides Beale out the rest of the second after the reversal. Up 6-3 with 2:27 of RT. Beale inexplicably takes down to start the third.

4-1 for the evening session. Beard going 0-2 is disapointing, but we really redeemed ourselves toinght. Tomorrow is going to be a very tough day for the 4 guys we have alive.

To recap:

Finch is 1-1, will have Morrison from Oklahoma State tomorrow morning in the wrestlebacks. Finch is 1-1 against Morrison this year.

Goettl is 1-1. He has Mitchell Port of Edinburo (28-9) tomorrow in the wrestlebacks. They have two common opponents. Both close losses for Port, a close win and a pin for Goettl. Goettl certainly has a great chance but I wouldn't call it a sure thing.

Sorenson is 2-0 and into the Quarterfinals. He has #11 seed Hatchett from Lehigh. Hatchett has 3 losses this year. 1 was an injury forfeit, second was a 4-6 Overtime loss to #4 seed Bekzod Abdurakhmanov of Clarion. The last was a 5-8 loss to top seeded David Taylor of Penn State. He also has a win over #9 seed Conrad Polz of Illinois as well as an upset over #6 Peter Hates of Virginia Tech in the last round. Hatchett is no slouch. Sorenson has beaten a lot of guys better than Hatchett this year, but he'll have to bring his "A" game tomorrow to keep on rolling.

Beard went 0-2 and is done.

Gibson is 1-1. He will have Peter Sturgeon of Central Michigan tomorrow morning. They met at Midlands with Gibson winning 7-2.

Of our four matches in Round 3, I feel the best about Gibson's. I'd consider 2-2 to be acceptable (as long as Sorenson is one of them), 3-1 to be good, and 4-0 to be great and very attainable.

I am reading the article on Cyclones.com this morning and it says that Sorenson 'recieved treatment immediately after the win' and Jackson had a quote about him not being 100%. Anybody know what is hurting? That doesn't bode well for his match this morning.

Geez, this team can't catch a break.

The article in the des Moines register said Sorensen left the arena with ice taped to his ankle.

I respect that Hamilton does a decent job covering ISU and UNI. He is far better than most Rag reporters in that. However, it is really annoying that they send a Hawkeye beat reporter and put the wrestling articles in 'Hawk Central'.
