New Commit - Ben Ewing

Ben Ewing of St. Thomas Aquinas in Overland Park, KS committed to wrestle at ISU last night. He is the nephew of former AA Dave Ewing.

He has gone 5, 1, and 3 at State through his Junior year at 160, 220, and 220.

He projects at 197. He is also a pretty decent LB in football it seems. On his twitter, https://twitter.com/benewing44, he has spent time at ISU, Kansas, and Mizzou football camps.

I'm not sure how I feel about another 197 commit. InterMat has him as 197/285 which makes more sense to me, I guess. I'm guessing that one of Harrington or Ewing ends up at Heavy.

I am curious what the plan is for Dane Pestano. Curious if he goes 184. Heard Goebel is not wrestling anymore. So Ewing could be part of a 2 deep lineup when Kyven is gone

I suppose that makes sense. Hopefully we get the updated roster soon

I am guessing. I thought Dane was pretty good at 197, but seemed a little outsized. If he could get to 184, I think him and Lelund would provide great depth at 184.

I am a liitle concerned about the light weights again. Sounds like Larson at 125, but not sure who backs him up also Earl at 133, (but hearing Dakota and Shayden are not wrestling this year) and with Meeks at 141 not sure who backs him up. I suppose RJ Hallman would back up 133. Not sure who else is in the 1st 3 weights that isn't a true freshman

I think Dakota is transferring somewhere and thought I heard Shayden is still at Iowa State just not going to wrestle. I really like Shayden and hope I heard wrong. Both have already redshirted.

I'm hearing that Dakota is transferring to Maryville Saints (DII) in MO.
