This will be interesting to follow, and maybe @brentblum can give us some insights. Tennessee is under very intense scrutiny across numerous sports right now for NIL violations. Even when an SEC team can finally cheat legally they do it wrong.

This should have been expected. The NCAA is on pretty shaky legal ground when it comes to their ability to regulate NIL, both in the state and federal courts. Any attempt to get punitive is going to be met with legal action.

Kirk and the Hawk Nation is behind all of this. If Tenn would have to vacate wins, Iowa probably gets the Citrus Bowl trophy and those horrible Iowa offensive stats go away from that game. Probably means that Kirk would get an added bonus for "winning" a bowl game and an added win from his Barta bonus filled contract. Deacon Hill is vindicated too for being such a horrible QB to just a bad QB.

I always laugh when fans get upset that the NCAA isn't doing anything regarding NIL and transfers. The NCAA is powerless.

The NIL horse is out of the barn now, and for the NCAA to do anything about it. UT needs to follow the path laid down by Kansas and UNC, lawyer up, refute the charges and tell the NCAA we will see you in court. When the FBI has you on tape talking about money for players from shoe deal and nothing comes of it, you aren't winning the UT case.

NCAA is a voluntary organization whose policies are voted by the member institutes to ensure fair play. They've been slow to adapt because there is a block that cannot sustain NIL.

Tennessee wants it both ways. Access to teams and tournaments, but no rules restraining them.

Schools can always leave. I suspect that the end goal is splintering the schools into NIL schools and non-NIL schools
