Like when we lost to Virginia?
Or UConn (the team with Niang still didn't play D). Or didn't get out of the first round. And and and.

Hoiball might have gotten us a national title had Niang not been hurtThis is dumb. Defense is how TJ turned the program around this quick and why we’ve been to two sweet 16s in the last 3 years. Hoiball didn’t get us that.
Built your program on toughness, discipline and defense. Sprinkle in some scorers.

It's been posted a few times that they wouldn't have been favored in any games and UConn still would have cooked the backcourt.
we had trouble scoring in the first half and Niang would have got us out of that situation. After moving Morris on Napier, he only had 6 points after starting with 13 points. It was a close game, close enough where Niang would have been a difference maker for sure. It's been posted a few times that they wouldn't have been favored in any games and UConn still would have cooked the backcourt.

Yea, believe every champion has been at least top 40 in both. Just another couple shots or turnovers forced tonight and we win. Milan disappearing hurt, hopefully he only grows from this.Uhh... statistics in trny over year has shown top 25 d and top 40 o.,.. so d is more important?
I don't think there is any question it's a secondary concern.Do you think offense was ignored this year, what with the vast improvement?
Disagree. It's been posted a few times that they wouldn't have been favored in any games and UConn still would have cooked the backcourt.

Listen dude, it needs to get better, tj would be the first guy to agree to that, that's the point. And you know it. I'm not here to get into a semantics argument with you.So not ignored?
Since it's jumped up so much over three years?

Well no **** but TJ had to lean on what was going to set the success of the program.
Expecting it to be balanced is a lot especially if the D is so elite.
It's going to take time and some luck to get it that even; iirc there's been one team ever that was top 30 in both and they made the Elite Eight.
At the time I felt this, but in hindsight, no. Those teams were not great on defense, and you need to be able to play well on both sides of the ball.Hoiball might have gotten us a national title had Niang not been hurt
Not saying this post is (not saying it isn't either) "but anyone with an "i told you so" post can go **** themselves. Seriously get a clue. If TJ tried to build his teams like everyone he'd be screwed . At minimum there are 2-3 dozen teams that will beat us out for recruits consistently if we were eyeing the same guys everyone else pursues we'd have at best Johnny's success.Year after year March proves the deeper you get into the tournament the more important offense becomes. If you look at efficiencies, the national champion for the last decade has always been near the top 10 for offense, defense not so much. Now that TJ has had time to get his guys in the building I hope next year we can start to become a threat on offense to take the program to the next level.
Exactly this. Put yourself into TJ's shoes as he steps into a 2-22 mess. You gonna recruit elite offensive talent by promising them 20 shots a game? FFS homies. More than likely to get toxic personalities who aren't really about the jersey. Not saying this post is (not saying it isn't either) "but anyone with an "i told you so" post can go **** themselves. TJ is going to strike while the iron is hot and upgrade the pieces he lost but to think we're suddenly going to get the guys needed to just go out and outscore the Dukes, Kentuckys or kansas' of the world pull your head out of your ass.
It's not that the offense isbad overall, but when we really needed it, it hasn't been there for us on the big stage. We win a lot despite scoring droughts, but to get further in the tournament against good teams, we need to get out of the terrible offensive stretches. That start we had was ridiculous. I don't understand why. We looked so tight, so tentative, just not ready to play.
As good as the guys we have that are coming back are (fingers crossed they stay) we need help. An alpa do scorer that can prevent scoring droughts. Hadley come on down.
