Older brother was a GA at ISU in 2022
I don’t know that these things are mutually exclusive.Transfers that are willing to do what TJ would ask of them are not going to be only looking for the biggest payday. And those looking for the biggest paydays will likely not be willing to do what TJ asks.

Nobody is but if he's not planning to a transfer bringing in 4 will assure it to happen. I'm fine either way but every dollar spent on a 4 isn't available for a really good 5 and retention of an outstanding returning roster. My only point is if we bring in a 4 he has to be better than anyone we currently have. Personally I think the 4s we have being in the system already a year or two (Watson) has benefit. Are we sure Biliew is coming back?
Not wanting to speak for CyFy but I think the point to be made is we're one key piece from being as good a unit (not necessarily individual talent) as there is in CBB. If TJ is honest with a kid stating this is what we can offer but these are the opportunities that come with it. We'll be looking pretty good to the right transfer.I don’t know that these things are mutually exclusive.
Like if someone asked you to work for less than what market rate is for someone of your skill and experience would you say yes because you’re a man of character?
Or, flipping the script, a young person gets an intern spot at a great company with potential (ISU coaches pushing player development, leading to NBA) versus getting a lot of money working for a place you know you're not a good fit.I don’t know that these things are mutually exclusive.

Hunter says hi.Or, flipping the script, a young person gets an intern spot at a great company with potential (ISU coaches pushing player development, leading to NBA) versus getting a lot of money working for a place you know you're not a good fit.
It could work either way.
It'll never happen but it would be nice if you had to disclose what you're getting from a collective.
I think that would also slow down the portal when kids see exactly what numbers actually look like rather than some pie in the sky number their AAU coach is feeding them.
This is a fine analogy but people here are operating in a fabricated construct where anyone getting material NIL money is going to a place that isn’t a good fit for them. And conversely, that anyone with any kind of NIL demand is not a good fit for ISU.Or, flipping the script, a young person gets an intern spot at a great company with potential (ISU coaches pushing player development, leading to NBA) versus getting a lot of money working for a place you know you're not a good fit.

You're overstating a bit. But it's been stated that if a kid's first priority is NIL TJ really doesn't have interest. This is a fine analogy but people here are operating in a fabricated construct where anyone getting material NIL money is going to a place that isn’t a good fit for them. NIL...
1 - The huge $$$ amounts for good to great players is still the same as it's been. Anywhere for $500K to $1mil depending on the position, skillset, school, etc. These are mostly guys that are starters or proven guys - or young high 4 to low 5 star guys with good eligibility of at least 2 years.
2 - The price for mid-range guys (think young role players) has also stayed static and depends on how much they've proven vs how much potential they're believed to have. It can be something like $10K in some cases (maybe a 1-2 star), up to maybe $500K (a 3 to low to mid 4 star guy) if they show promise with a specialty like creating shots, good 3 pt shooting. The more eligibility they have, the more it helps. The more specialized the skill, the more it helps.
3 - A lot of these guys are averaging like 5 points, 2 rebounds a game and weren't ranked coming into their lower tier school. They aren't going to get more than maybe $10K and only that if they show some level of potential.
4 - A kid from a major program with proven ability or skillset, especially if they have decent eligibility, can still garner a **** ton. A guy like Dickenson at KU could get over $1mil.
5 - Despite logic, the amounts and offers have NOT decreased. You hear more turmoil, but that's because a lot of guys are facing the reality of not being worth what they think they are. But those are guys that were maybe a 4 star and have done nothing (Xavier Foster) or midrange without a lot of further upside.
6 - Iowa State isn't a player for #1 above. We can sometimes get a guy in #2 above - maybe they could get $25K here vs $125K elsewhere, but have a much better setup here. Group #3 above is usually guys like Pav that are known to have some skill but limited size, strength, and starter potential at our level.
To be fair, I think Dubar actually is a high major talent. Understandable why a fresh start was needed after that awful year in Ames for all involved. Prohm was never going to be the coach to develop him into that high major player either. He's been good at Hofstra.
Prohm recruited a lot of mid-major guys but a lot of guys with high-major names.
