This is like watching a Prohm team.

And no, our defense is NOT elite. It’s decent at some things. It most certainly is not elite. Elite defenses create turnovers and create tons of havoc for the opposing offense. Ohio QB is casually jogging for easy runs to the sideline with absolutely no contain from our D. Ohio is chewing up a ton of clock, which is exactly what they are intending to do.

Was chuckling last weekend reading our fans say stuff like: “our Defense was great, we held Iowa to 2 big plays!” - literally those 2 plays were terrible defense, and may be some of Iowa’s best plays they will have this season.

JFC we are bad. Really, really bad.

I'm not one to usually question Heacock because he's the one guy that's consistently gotten us results, but the "never going with more than 3 guys" only ever worked because we got pressure with 3 guys. That's not happening now.

This.

Don't know why it's so hard for some to understand, let alone why they get so defensive about it.

Heacock "isn't the problem", but the offense is ******* terrible. Want to win games? The defense is going to need to have more big plays to create field position or scoring oops. They also have to do a better job of getting off the field on third down.

Both of those things stem from a lack of pressure.

Quit being a *****. Just because a unit "isn't the problem" doesn't mean they aren't missing opportunities or making mistakes. Heacock needs to be more aggressive. Thats why, despite the yardage and points, we relatively sucked on 3rd and longs last year. Gave too many QBs too much time to throw.
Does being ultra conservative, bend don't break, minimize yards and points matter when the offense can't do ****? Or would we be better served by a more aggressive defense that forces the issue and tries more for big plays and setting up the offense with a short field?
