I just tuned in and Ohio missed 31 yard field goal from the left hash as it hit the left upright... looked familiar. But they had a false start, so it moved it back to a 36 yarder, that they had a false start again. Made the 41 yarder by an inch.

Wait...the defense accepted the penalty?

I guess this is a penalty that you cannot decline?

False starts mean the play doesn't count, no matter what the outcome is. The ball is dead as soon as the false start is committed which is before the snap

Minnesota scores a touch down with around 30 seconds and Ohio just returned the kick to the 45 of Minnesota. What is on Minnesota's helmets? SKI-U-MAH?

Lining up to kick a 53-yarder and Minnesota calls timeout AND Ohio gets a delay of game. How in the world does that happen?

Sports Illustrated twitter claims its because Ohio went ahead and kicked it. Like every other team has.

Hopefully this is the snafu that finally gets the stupid, last second, ice the kicker timeout as the ball is snapped banned.

That's a completely unfair delay of game call there. I mean, how many times have we seen a TO called right before a kick, but the kicker still follows through on the kick? There is NO WAY that the other team, who called the time out, should benefit from that time out call while trying to ice the kicker.

Another example of the perception problem we have at ISU

JERRY Kill still a hero by barely beating Ohio at home, yet we have the pitchforks out for Rhoads
after losing on the road in 2OT vs a better Toledo team

Perhaps whoever you are talking about perceive Jerry Kill as a hero because he is working on two 8-win seasons in a row and has 19 wins over this season and the past two. For comparison, Rhoads has 6 wins over that same period.

Kill was getting called out all week by the radio guys in the twin cities, I don't think another narrow win will help him.

Play the weakest teams you can find should be the strategy. It is possible that we have lost to the MAC champion in double OT at their stadium. In a game we should have won in regulation on a missed FG. And a close loss to the Big Ten West Division Champion. Win both of those games and Rhoads would be in a different situation. The seat is definitely much hotter.

Playing a tougher schedule is not what ISU should do. Don't know who comes up with these schedules, but we seem to pick out non-conference games that are more difficult than most.

Meh, Kills record vs ranked teams is worse than Rhoads.

color me unimpressed by a guy who's taken a team in a major metro area with no other D1 schools in the state, lose to 3 ranked teams each year and beat 2 out of 3 crap teams. He's done OK but that's it.

Gotta laugh at how the small market people think that the bigger market media also spends all of it's time kissing ***. Kill has been just getting ripped since the narrow 10-7 win last week and it isn't going to be better this week.

Patrick Reusse roasted him earlier this week for being such a total ******** after the game last week. Kill deserved it cause he does come off as a total ******** but he is winning which is what really matters. Granted, the fans booing last week was pretty bad but that is not an excuse for your coach to act like a sarcastic snipping 12-year old.

PS: The media here generally saves it *** kissing for the Wild but pretty much savage the other sports at the drop of a hat.

In defense of Minnesota, they had 3 starters out in the secondary, and two starting linebackers. Plus injuries on the d-line. Plus their offensive line is banged up. They are a walking wounded football team. Even so, Ohio should have won this game. In the last 3 minutes they must have had 8 penalties. If they did not make this mental mistakes, they would have closed it out.

Injuries........are they a legitimate excuse or not?

It isn't the defense people are upset with, their offense may be worse than ours.
