My roommates and I are looking for a place to have a post-graduation grill out for family/friends. Are there places for this in/around Ames that allow drinking? I have no idea what the city's policies are for that stuff.

Also, it's near my birthday, so I'm calling it #ProjectXX.2 and the first 200 CFers get a free signed picture of me watching Royce White play basketball.

Yes, all of the city parks allow non-keg beer. Make sure to reserve a shelter. The Parks & Rec website should list which shelters have lights/electricity if you want or need it. Emma McCarthy Lee Park is a nice one that isn't as popular, down in a creek bottom with a nice shelter, basketball and volleyball, etc.

Rivervally and Brokeside were some of our favorites.

If I remember right that park has a few nice cardboard shelters and a centrally located burn barrel to gather around. Restroom sucked though, just a bigass pickle jar.
