I lucked into a job with ISU Purchasing (later ISU Accounting) my freshman year. It was a work study job and I proofed vouchers and did other pretty simple office jobs. I found it on some Iowa State job website for students. It worked out pretty well because I could set my own hours. I didn't get rich off of it, but I worked 2-3 hours a day probably 4 days a week for 4 years.

Maintenance department is flexible. Also if you get in with the crew out at Freddy it is mostly just a light bulb and AC filter changing job (then you drive around in a big van and wait for calls the rest of the time)

I second the maintenance department. That was one of my jobs while I was there. They work with your schedule very well. Plus, you get to do things like change light bulbs/door locks in girls' dorm rooms. I never got the pron-star-handyman treatment, but I did get invited to a number of parties while I worked there.

Also, the union people that you work with will be sure to let you know if you are working too hard and urge you to correct that behavior.

Check the student job board on Access+. I don't think Rec Services usually lists there, but they may have shifts that work, check their website.

Maintenance man for ISU. You may also get free room and board. At least they do at some schools like Lincoln.

Lab monitoring was awesome. Got paid $8.50 an hour to sit on my butt and do homework/play computer games. Oh and occasionally check students in.
