Looking back his initial staff was fairly solid, especially at the key spots like OC and DC and some good position coaches that have had some longevity in the sport since too, especially having 2 that went on to be head coaches at a Power 5 school. I think we are seeing with Campbell's staff the importance of continuity and keeping good assistants as that was part of Rhoads downfall at the end of his tenure at ISU was his staff kept fluctuating. Campbell did lose his first OC and RB coach already since here but for the most part he's been able to keep most of the guys he originally hired around and it's nice to see that we continue to give him financial resources to hopefully keep it intact as much as possible.

Rhoads was doomed by his inability to recognize that he knew nothing about offense and he needed to hire someone and let them do their thing. He needed to hire coordinators and recruiters. I think he had some really good teachers on his staff but they struggled to recruit at times and then he just thought he could plug in Messingham. Then he hired Mangino as the game had already passed him by but the bigger issue was that he was an *******.

Rhoads' staff diversity hindered continuity and vision. Campbell has demonstrated a proclivity of hiring internally and working only with those he trusts and has an established history with.

Anybody know if Messingham is being retained at NDSU or is he going to KSU?
Nothing firm yet on K-State staff except it seems pretty clear now that Klieman will retain Collin Klein (QB), Blake Seiler (DC), Brian Norwood (DB), and Taylor Braet (Recruiting Coordinator). The rest of the staff will likely be let go. Expect 3/4 from NDSU to be added which may include Messingham, that would make sense, actually, and 3/4 from outside.

Sean has a standing offer from Mack Brown to coach special teams at North Carolina. Mack and Snyder have always been close friends. At one time it was thought Mack might follow Bill.

Also rumored that Matt Campbell has talked with Sean.

Whatever, Sean will have a job at K-State if he wants to stay. Whether that's as a coach is suspect at this point in time.

Good for coach Rhoads being able to move out of LA. He seems like the type of guy that would be much happier living in Tucson than LA.
