I'd probably go Brown, Campbell, Sarkisian. I think WV had the easiest path but tough to argue expectation vs finish.

I think it should be Neal Brown. They were voted dead last and there were many outlets wondering if they would even win three games. To go 8-4 (should have been 9-3 if not for that stupid penalty and Hail Mary by Houston) is impressive. They tied for fourth in the conference with a 6-3 record and Brown was going to be fired before October was the thought.

I have zero problem with Sark winning it too if they win this weekend. He has actually changed the culture around that program. At least for this year.

Agree. They looked like poop at the start of the year and now they are playing for the Big XII.

UT may get it but they should always be good, just because they finally were just means coaching was finally on par. Not worthy of it in my opinion.

I think it's Leipold. 8-4 at Kansas with a win vs oklahoma. Kansas might be 10-2 without the Quarterback injuries. Lot of varying opinions on this one.

Sark or Gundy

Sark got Texas to play hard all season, best coaching and team they've had since their NC run.

Gundy though...talk about changing the narrative in season. He basically did what Campbell did from maybe a slightly lower low to a higher high.

Your logic basically makes the preseason favorite ineligible for the award.

It's gotta be Gundy, right? They were mediocre last year, seemingly left for dead a week into conference play, and they won the final Bedlam and made the CCG.

Brown did a nice job, but he doesn't have a win anywhere close to Gundy's wins over OU and KSU.

To me it's really tough this year...

Sark:
I've been talking for a couple years about what I saw as Sark changing and building a culture there that they haven't had from prior coaches. So really he just validated what I believed to be happening in building the program. He had a high bar and he met it.

Gundy and Campbell:
They fall into a description of - did a lot with youth, but are well enough into long tenures that their respective seasons were no better or worse than they should have been. Both faced mass change and adversity and worked through it, but didn't elevate drastically above expectations. Both had significant youth and development needed, but should they have needed to at this point?

Brown:
You could make a case that he over exceeded expectations by the most, especially with some roster issues, his seat on fire, etc.

Leipold:
You could also make a case that he did a great job, but with the talent that returned from last year's big growth season, I don't know that they really exceeded by a huge margin.

It would be highway robbery if Alabama goes ahead of Texas. That being said I'll be rooting for Alabama in the CCG just to show the hypocrisy.
