If I had the choice between Clyburn from his senior year or Shayok for this years team, I take Shayok 10/10 times. He's a much better shooter than Clyburn and I believe Shayok's defense is underrated. By the end of the year, Shayok will be top 5 on this list

Agree. I don’t look at jucos the same as sitout transfers. I guess they’re like grad transfers, but moving on...

1.) Kane
2.) White
3.) Clyburn

4.) Burton
5.) Nadar
6.) McKay

7.) Lucious
8.) Chris Babb
9.) BDJ
10.) Anderson

Bowie
Booker

Holden
Beverly
Hans

NWB, Shayok, and Jacobson will likely be pushing to make the top 10
Well the OP did specifically include sit out, grad and juco transfers when he laid out his criteria...

TPA (Total Points Added) is a good measurement tool I like to use. These are the top-30 individual seasons by a Cyclone since 1998. Transfers/Jucos are highlighted. People are sleeping on McGee.

This. Also, if initial results hold, Jacobson will also be solid top 6-8 range

I thought it would be interesting to hear some other opinions on the transfers Iowa State has brought in since Hoiberg took over and now continuing with Prohm. Hoiberg recruits are bolded, this can include sit-out transfers, grad transfers, and jucos for reference. Here our my rankings of the Top 20.

1. Royce - Probably the most talented player we've had since Fizer
2. Kane - Man against boys out there most evenings
3. Clyburn
4. Shayok- looks like he lead the Big 12 in scoring this year
5. Mckay - Won Big 12 defensive POY
6. BDJ - NBA talent, couldnt get his life straightened out
7. Burton- I would put him slightly ahead of Nader
8. Nader- NBA player
9. Jacobson- looks like he could be an All Conference selection this year
10. Hogue- one of my all time favorite Cyclones, IHCC

11. Christopherson
12. Babb
13. Lucious
14. McGee
15. Donovan Jackson
16. Weiler-Babb
17. Chris Allen
18. Bowie
19. Jake Anderson
20. Booker

Next Tier- Talley, Cooke, Brase, Edozie

Busts- Holden, Beverly, Kasongo, Bluford, Phillips

Going off my Top 10 and 12 of the 14 being Hoiberg recruits, I think we can agree Hoiberg carved out the transfer market while Prohm has shown to be better at getting high school talent.

1: Royce
2: Kane
3: McKay
4: Shayok
5: Nader
6: Jacobson (where would this team be without him?)
7: Burton
8: Clyburn
9: Scotty
10: Nick Babb
11: Hogue
12: McGee
13: Chris Babb

Shayok drives me nuts. Dribbles way to much and is a ball hogging turnover machine. I would bench his ass until he shows he is a team player. Seems to play like personal stats are all he cares about.

The winning hatred epidemic is really strong this season.

Agreed, Jackson gets way too much credit for being a poors man's Tyrus. He was a role player that got a lot of PT last year, because we were so awful.
He was better at the sidekick/second option role than our primary option was as the go-to role.

When I saw this I thought you were just talking grad transfers. If you're including juco's then there's way more than mentioned. You have to go back to the Tim Floyd era. He put together a pretty good team of transfers. Kelvin Cato, Dedric Willoughby, Shawn Bankhead, Kenny Pratt.

How dare he hurt the team by leading the Big XII in scoring while shooting only 52% from the field.

This might be better evaluated at the end of the season. 11 games into the season and Shayok and Jacobson have been significantly better than Royce and Kane were. Do people forget how Royce "wasn't sweating" and Kane was actually playing "hero ball" during the noncon? Both of those guys figured it out and were outstanding during the conference season and post season.

If you're counting jucos and Tyrus isn't in the top 4 or 5, you're doing it wrong. He was the best player on the Clyburn/Lucious team. Kane and White are the only two that would be a tier above him.

I was just limiting it to the Hoiberg-Prohm years. I guess I should remove Christopherson though, I forgot he was already here when Hoiberg took over.

Im going to have to disagree on that one. The others i listed before him were more complete players, he was known as being a 3-point specialist. I cant remember exactly, but he didnt even start either year did he? I remember him being our 6th man.

He was the 6th man and the best player on that team, check his numbers, 2nd leading scorer despite being 6th in mpg. Great rebounder for his size and lead the team in steals. The most consistent player hands down on that team. Don't feel bad, most other Hawk and K State fans probably don't remember him that well either.
