Girlfriend lost the only car key she has....what do you do now? It is a 2003 Honda Element. Just call the dealer?

I believe if you go to the dealership with the VIN #, her ID, and maybe the registration they should be able to make you a new set of keys.

Take your credit card to the dealership also. You will need it with the price of the keys today.

It'll still probably be $150.

My fiance lost the key to her 2001 Old's Alero a few years back and it cost her $20 to get a new one from Bob Brown's. As long as there is not a computer chip in the key, it will be cheap.

Its a 2003, it shouldn't be too expensive.

I spent $200 on one for a '99 a few years back. The damn computer chip rapes ya.

I also just had a locksmith do it. He just came out to me & made a key on the spot ( didn't ask for ID, registration, or anything).

That was the last time I took my keys tubing down the Skunk! ( dumb in the first place, I know)

I'd call a locksmith first to see if they can reproduce a key for you before going to the dealership. Especially since now that she's hopefully learned her lesson, she'll get two keys made.

In a strange turn of events she was smart enough to call the previous owner and he had an extra key and keyless entry remote in his safe! So that worked out. Now to go Ace in johnston and have them laser cut a new key. This whole Honda Laser Cut key nonsense is just dumb. $60 just for a valet key.

Well you are smarter than me I was going to suggest shatter the driverside window and have her watch this...
