Road Rage

I will admit that I've done that to people before. When there is a long line of cars in the right lane and there are signs that the left lane ends I will not let anyone over that cruises along in the empty left lane to get ahead in the line. That BS is what causes a lot of my road rage.

+1 on this. Done that many times to the car that is flying up in the lane that is about to end.

How long of a commute do some of you have?

There is a **** ton of rage and driving like hell to provoke other drivers in this thread

The problem with this is that everyone needs to be united in their stand against the a-hole who does this, and there is always some weak piece of **** that lets them in

Bikers pretty much suck.

They really don't. The problem is that those who make an effort to bike daily get frustrated with the ****** drivers that makes them increasingly militant which causes them to act like douches. That said, there are some bikers who feel like because they pay road taxes for their cars, that automatically means all rules and rights carry over to their bike. In the day to day real world, that really isn't the case, and those who ride full lane on a road with a 35-40 mph, can't be surprised when drivers get irritated being stuck behind doing 20.

Is this really your thought process on the road? This is why accidents are caused. They aren't weak drivers, they are trying to be safe. What the hell is the matter with you?

Anyway for good drivers (like myself) who contribute much to society, please give us your license plate number and the make of your car so we can forward this to the police when we see you do this. Heck, why wait for you to do this. I may want to forward that information to the police now. I'm not about to get hit by a reckless driver, I'm watching out for my backside.
Thank you

They are weak, and must be destroyed.

Rather than tapping the brakes I usually just get off the gas and coast. It gets people's attention better since they don't see brake lights to react. It also gets them to go around quicker.

How is that driver suppose to know you are slowing down then? My goodness, so you let off the gas to get a point across? Smh, I'm really disturbed reading these comments now. I really should leave this forum, but I need to look out for my safety at the same time. It's scary stuff, scary times. Technology is a problem, but the way people react is definitely not helping.

My wife and I were driving down our street (residential 25 mph). Some old guy didn't think the speed limit applied to him and passes me (I did speed up and not let him pass me, until we were coming to a T intersection and was afraid of a car turning on the the street and killing the guy). After I let him pass me I am pretty ****** because there are a lot of kids in the area, so I got out of my car and grabbed a golf club out of the back of my car. By the time he sees me, he takes off. So i get back in the car and follow him as he is speeding through town. He finally flies into his driveway and the garage door is going down before his car is in. Pretty sure he had to clean out his shorts at the end.

That was probably the most ****** i have been in the car.

Wow, you sped up? It's safe to say I'm not taking myself or my family to Hiawatha in the immediate future.

I'll explain it:
If the car's bumper ahead of you starts getting closer to your front bumper, and you aren't accelerating, then that means the car ahead of you is probably slowing down.
If somebody is tailgating you, that's actually a smart thing to do to get them to pass. It's actually safer than slamming on your brakes. When you let off the accelerator, its not like your car slows down rapidly. It slows gradually enough that the person behind you will know. (unless they are 2 feet from your bumper)

BodeClone: you aren't one of those left lane campers are you? You know, the ones who camp in the left lane just to slow the traffic down to a speed you feel safer?

As distracted as people are on the road I wouldn't use this tactic. You're just as likely to get tagged from behind and thrown out of control.

Yeah, but more than likely if they are tailgating on the interstate they will probably be paying attention and angry. Plus, if you are the person being tailgated, you can see their faces in your mirrors. From there, you can make a judgement call if its safe or not. I wouldn't do this if they guy behind you has his head down playing on his phone.

I like to let other drivers know what I'm doing. Slowing down without tapping he breaks when someone is close isn't a great plan. I wish you luck.

(I investigated accidents in a prior life. Death and real injury is very possible even at low speeds. I don't play games on the road)

Oh me too. Unless said driver is being a **** and I feel that conditions are safe enough to warrant a very gentle slowdown. (cancelling the cruise control for a second or decreasing my speed 1-2mph so the tailgater passes.)

And I should say, this doesn't happen very often in Chicago because the speed of traffic is usually 0-5mph.
However, during lighter periods and the flow of traffic is 85 in a 55-65, then most people tailgating are very aware of their surroundings and white knuckling it.

Did this truck have Iowa Plates that read 'XL K9'?

I was traveling Eastbound on I-80 in eastern Iowa about 20 years ago in my small pickup. I started passing a huge RV with an even bigger trailer. When I got just about even with the front of his trailer he decides he is going to come on over into the left lane with me. I layed on the horn and ended up on that narrow bumpy assed left shoulder. By then the adrenaline is pumping so I completed the pass on the narrow shoulder. As I went by him on the shoulder he is screaming at me and flipping me off. I think he forgot entirely about his trailer and thought I passed him on the shoulder for no reason. What an idiot.

'Floored it' is a relative term - it was a '83 Ford Escort:twitcy:

My brother used to live in the Dallas Metroplex. One day he was coming home from work and a guy started following him - apparently thinking my brother cut him off or something. When they got in his neighborhood instead of going home, my brother floored it and eventually lost him in the maze of streets and alleys. Finally my brother came to the end of an alley to see the guy go by and out of the neighborhood holding up his handgun for my brother to see.

Yes, you need to be careful.
