While this year might be a bit skewed due to no Big 12 opponents yet, its still remarkable how far he has come since his first year here. Props to him and the coaching staff coaching him up.

He always had decent post moves. He is finishing at a higher rate this year.

I was just wondering and posting about this in another thread.

The past few games he’s switched in my mind into the territory where I want him out there even in crunch time where a team can and will intentionally foul. Really even at the holiday tournament he was the consistent effort guy who had a solid full three games.

The ft being up 10% is nice but the high fg % makes it less of an issue because he’s just getting two on so many of his attempts.

He clearly did a lot of work in the off season and - while I don’t say this to undermine (I actually mean it as a compliment) - he’s taking better shots than he has in the past.

Some of this is probably indirectly due to teammates as well. When Lipsey snd Gilbert get down hill like they do an draw defense it leads to better looks. Attacking the rim instead of playing back to the basket. Same with not being able to sag off Milan or our guards now.

Teams actually having to stay honest with Lipsey in the perimeter this year makes life easier in the lane. By end of Big 12 play last year teams weren’t even pretending to guard him. Lane was always full of defenders.

Again, this is not to take away from Rob but I think the cast of players around him is at play here too.

A lot of truth in your 2nd paragraph. The offensive talent around him is so much better and it makes his job easier. And this season he is the epitome of knowing your role and excelling in your role.

Totally agree on the knowing your role part. He took 6 shots tonight. All high percentage. In flow if the offense, put backs, etc. None forced. It’s so efficient.

On a side note, this is why I love basketball compared to other sports. Everything has to fit together and some players just really excel with certain teams and certain teammates.

There was a stretch last year where his shots inside just slammed off the glass very obvious. That’s totally gone this year so far.

I’ve always loved BRE.

I thought he has been under appreciated and overly criticized during his career. From his hustle plays, to the what the hell are you doing plays, to the many adventures at the free throw line. His growth year to year has been incredible and cool to see.

I’m truly going to miss him when he’s gone.

I seemed to recall if he had the ball in the post, he would put up a shot almost all the time, even if he was double teamed and had an easy pass to an open player at the arc. That was the frustrating part watching his game from prior years.

I’m not seeing as much of that this year. He is a very good defender/rebounder and just seems to be playing with a lot more confidence this season. He has clearly earned a spot in the starting rotation

He must have really worked on his foot work also, I think it's amazing the way he controls his body and is not picking up all the fouls he used to. Kudos to Tre King on this also!!

His improvement this year is phenomenal. He also is taking much better shots. He's easy to root for. Seems like a great guy and seems to really love ISU. I know he didn't come in as a freshman but he's been here long enough and improved so much it feels like he has been here 4 years. We will miss him next year

THis team has bought into the weight room. We bullied Iowa last night. BRE destroyed that Valpo transfer and so did King. BRE is finishing this year around the rim.
