Iowa just signed a 197 named Jacob Warner who is a world medalist. They're pretty set at that weight. Shapiro has been wrestling 195 this offseason from what I've seen.

Shapiro will definitely start his career at 184. It's not like we don't have anyone at 197 with Colbray and Sauer. The way Shapiro is developing I went into the last month thinking he should be #2 on our board behind Carr.

Shapiro is underrated. Even at #43 overall in the country on Flo's 2018 Big Board. You see a lot of kids who develop much earlier, while Shapiro is just starting his development trend right now. I also really like HS kids who not only see this rapid continual growth, but also do it while moving up significantly in weight class. That means that aren't just getting better against the same kids. I'm telling you, this kid is going to be a stud! He feels a really bad need at 184 and can move into 197 after Colbray if need be.

I have a feeling that Joel is going to turn heads at Fargo. And in turn with keep climbing in the rankings. So I agree with cywr89 - Shapiro should have been and was high on the board.

Now let's get Carr and Teske.. (and Grant Stotts)

How can you be so sure he will be at 184? He wrestled 126 as a freshman and is wrestling 195 this summer. The kid is obviously growing, and is already wrestling 11 pounds over the weight you want him at.

I think he's an absolute stud, but it might be wishful thinking for him to be at 184.

FWIW, Joel says he will be at 184. Last summer he wrestled 170 so he wouldn't have to cut, and then cut down to 160 for the high school season, I think that is what we are seeing this summer with him at 195.

That's good to know, but still with a guy that's grown so much, why would we expect it to stop all of a sudden?

Because I have seen him in the room and he is way smaller than Colbray and not much bigger than Coleman. Right now he could make 174 with a little work but will be a natural 184 as he needs to get stronger. He may weigh 195 after eating and with clothes on but that is about the only time.

I hope they both are able to make it in the lineup. All the more impressive that Shapiro could make 170 and went 9-0 at Junior duals at 195.

When does iSu usually release a pre-season prospectus for the wrestling squad, late August, or maybe October?
