I hadn't seen that in a "long, long time".

It always reminds me of when we were doing theater in college and we had an actor who didn't smoke who was supposed to smoke on stage. You don't just hang a lit cigarette off your lips and sell it as smoking. Shatner obviously wasn't a smoker at the time and just used the cigarette as a prop.

That and some people have to be the center of attention and they will seek it even if they are embarrassing themselves.

I'm not so sure. I thought it was great when he was on Boston Legal and he had no problem laughing at himself. But during this era he was extremely full of himself and was struggling to latch on to the limelight in any way he could.
