For those of you who take heaters to the game for your tents/canopies - what are you using?

Another option.

I have seen people burn wood or charcoal in their grill or portable fire pit. No open fires, so you need some type of lid or wire mess screen to put over the top to make security happy.

They do throw a lot of heat but can be a bit smokey and not exactly safe depending on the level of intoxication of those surrounding it.

I usually drink hard liquor, that keeps me warm. Fireball, Templeton, etc.

If you are using anything with combustion and putting sides on your tent just make sure you are getting adequate ventilation. You probably aren't going to kill anyone but you could certainly raise CO levels enough to give your tailgaters a nasty headache.

I wouldn't recommend 4 sides on your tent with any of those types of heaters. You probably are going to get enough passive ventilation with any breeze coming under the tent sides, but better safe than sorry.

Great ideas and advice. Is there anything you guys have tried running straight off the generator?

Haven't tried anything straight off the generator i don't think. figured its more efficient to directly turn combustion into heat than combustion to power back to heat.

Makes sense - I was just thinking I have seen too many people melt their coats bumping into them and wonder if there was an alternative. Then again - the slowest member of the heard is always the first to go!

The best and by far the most efficient and pleasant way to heat your tent is to make sure a hot babe is inside.

Tried that. They are usually the first to catch on fire. At that point we invoke the stop, drop and ...... well, you know the rest.

If i remember right, we run a few of these, Amazon.com: Mr. Heater MH45T Triple Tank Top Outdoor Propane Heater: Home & Kitchen or Amazon.com: Mr. Heater Double Tank-Top Propane Heater - 8,000-28,000 BTU, Model# MH24T: Home & Kitchen

We also had one of the bigger units in the past that you often see on bar patios (that look like an umbrella), but they can be a pain to fit in when packing up for the tailgate.

How fast do these things blow through a propane tank?
