I was there at 6am friday morning and it really wasn't that busy. I parked close to the door, explored for about 20 minutes, and checked out quickly.

It is why liquor is typically more expensive in Iowa vs. border states. The state of Iowa has to make their cut, so we pay more.

Helps to pay for all the state run AA programs and every governor's nest egg.

Seeing the lengths that folks are going to for this really makes me appreciate weekly specials at East Ames Hy-Vee. There’s not as much on sale at once, and some weeks are better than others, but the savings are comparable and don’t require camping out in advance.

I always make a stop there whenever I'm in town. Big fan of the pallets of 6 packs they have of random beers they always have. Granted some of them might be pushing expiration, can't go wrong with a sixer for $3.99.

Why Liquor Shortages Caused By The COVID-19 Pandemic Persist In Some States

Some producers can't source glass bottles, the cost to import liquor has gone up, and there is a shortage of truck drivers. Also, it just takes a long time to make some types of booze.

A little late but Urbandale had a week full of beer sales. This morning all 4 packs of TG were $7.99. I bought a few 4 packs that were $18.99 like DDH King Sue and forced flair
