What good is a close button for the advertising at the bottom of the screen if it continues to pop back up after you elect to close it?

Go down to the bottom and select "bottom bar" instead of default

Yeah, I just saw that in the other thread - shouldn't it actually be called "get rid of bottom bar" or something of the like? You would think selecting the "bottom bar" option would be for those that actually wanted it...

Thank god. Although I only have 1000 megs of internet usage in a month here at work and that damn botton bar used almost 200 yesterday. For the love of god that thing sucks.

Agreed. The moving ads are bad enough, that bar is just ridiculous.

God forbid there is a relatively unobtrusive ad at the bottom of a FREE TO USE FORUM...

If it's really slowing things down for you, get AdBlock. You can block it out.

by my count, there are 13 ads on this page, I guess I can deal. The only thing that would be really bad is if there was an ad after the first post of every page in a thread like on HN or the Shag. that stuff is annoying.

you're right, i should feel eternally grateful to view an internet forum for free; i should consider myself lucky to only have to sift through 10+ ads/full length rotating ad bars to get to it

No kidding. When I was a kid, we had to have a handful of quarters to feed into the computer to keep the internet running. Now, it's all free. Who cares if you can't get to the page you want because the ads are eating up your bandwidth? You young whippersnappers don't know how good you've got it!
