What happened to the "Champions Bowl" Idea vs. SEC?

Anyone else recall the Champions Bowl that was planned between the Big XII and SEC?

Did the leagues decide to cancel it after the Playoff system was announced?

It starts next year with a very large pay day for the conference.

But it's not the Sugar Bowl this year.. This year, it's the semifinal game between Bama and tOSU

And the way that article is worded, It'd be the Big 12 vs. SEC Champ.

Which team this year would the Big 12 have sent to represent us, considering we had dual champs?

It's part of a 6 bowl rotation that will be used in the playoff system, so yes, there are some years in which it won't be B12/SEC. It will be the highest conference team in the B12 and SEC not involved in the playoffs.

The conference has a tie breaker for the sugar bowl that is identical to what it had for the BCS, with 'playoff committee ranking' copy/pasted in for 'BCS ranking'.

It would have been Baylor because they won head to head. Wouldn't have mattered if TCU was ranked ahead of them.

If the Sugar Bowl had not been a semifinal, and the agreement was in force this year, I believe the Sugar Bowl would have been Baylor vs. Mississippi State.

Who would have thought those schools would be in a Big 12 champ vs. SEC champ bowl game five years ago?

When they aren't semifinals..

Pac-12 and B1G champs go to Rose
Big 12 and SEC champs go to Sugar
ACC champ goes to Orange

These rotating bowls are ******* me off. I'd like it to just be set.
