Yeah, that was awesome. I remember one week an offensive tackle named Cuvilier (sp) had a crushing block in the backfield on a reverse. Earl cackled like a school girl and played it over about three times.
Yeah, I remember him well, **** Cuviller I think was his name. He was a beast but unfortunately I think he was always fighting off injuries. One of the ISU greats.

dexter green's runs on draw plays in the victory over the fuskers in 1977.green was a very great little running back-one of the better running backs in cyclone history.

Sure do!
In fact that tradition still continues to this day. Usually only after the 1st score of the season, (providing we score 1st) we'd bean the end-zone with oranges.

We loaded up on oranges and wine botas in the 76 season...

The worst thing about the oranges is the fact that Iowa got there before us .... Good thing USC kicked their butts !

ISU did play well against #1 OU in '76 as they had a 7-7 half before Joe (one of the best I ever saw live) Washington broke it open. That was one great Cyclone club.

I have to say, even though all you dudes in this thread are old, those Cyclone fans who weren't alive during this era (like me) sure appreciate all the stories from one of the only other successful eras in our football program's history. Please keep them coming.

Age is mind over matter: if you don't mind, it doesn't matter. The wins in the 70s are the only thing that's kept me interested. Been waiting for the second coming of Cyclone football for 30 years. And it appears to be near.

I was on the sidelines taking photos that day. The dude had like 6 pairs of cleats (one pair was silver) and I think he went through all six. He was a burner.

Mine will be different then most...

I was 14 growing up in Colorado, and as a Buff fan I rooted for CU in the Big 8 Football Conference. 1971 was a great year for the Big 8. Colorado only lost 2 games finishing 10-2 and finished number #3 in the country in some National polls. They lost to #2 OU, OU finished 12-1 (only loss to Nebraska) and Lost to #1 Nebraska, Nebraska finished 13-0. This making he Big 8 in 1971 one of the strongest conferences in the country. Not many conferences have had teams finish 1, 2, 3 in the final National poll....

I was at both games in the 70's when ISU beat Nebraska two years in a row.

I was also in attendance for both games. For an ISU alum, it seemed like the place to be. I just have to ask what the circumstances were that led to a Baylor Bear fanatic to be at both games? Earle Bruce had few if any Texas recruits on the roster. Did you happen to have a connection with one of the Husker players?

Haven't read all so hope this hasn't been mentioned.
My first game was in Clyde Williams vs Ok State I believe. I think George Amudson sp? was our qb at the time. There was a play where the ISU runner was running down the sideline in front of Ok State bench when one of the players on the bench tackled him. Maybe someone else can fill in more or correct if needed. I was around 12 then thinking, he can't do that.
