Got a rental last week for my rental car.

My answer was 10+ years or never and I am more convinced that will be the case and other forms of fuel will surpass electric vehicles eventually (i.e. hydrogen).

I guess if you own one as a commuter vehicle and charge it at work or at home - fine.

As a driver without a plethora of charging options - it was awful. If I was doing any sort of extensive driving - I would have spent too much time finding charging stations and charging the car when I needed to spend time doing business.

I own an EV at home, I rent ICE cars for work. But I doubt I will ever own another ICE car for my daily driver, EV is just so much better at everything.

Just got some stats back from July on my wifes' Tesla MYLR

656 miles driven
226 KWh (all home charging)
Total Charging Cost $24.46
Cost per 100 mi/$3.72

She previously drove a VW Tiguan. If we applied the same mileage:
656 miles driven
25 mpg
Total Fuel Cost $91.58
Cost per 100 mi/$13.96

So far in August, the Tesla has been more efficient but we did charge once at a Supercharger. Cost per 100 mile is running around $3.60.

So if I average this out over 12k miles, my costs should look something like this

Tesla $446
Tiguan $1,675

$1,229 Savings
About the same as what our insurance went up :)

I expect the Tesla to have worse cost per mile in the winter. The Tiguan got a little worse mileage in the winter as well. Also, Mid American is pretty cheap with rates around 11 cents per KW. There are places in California that pay 3x that amount. Just thought of something.....I believe Mid American may have winter electric rates, which are a lot lower.

Probably save another $300-$500 in maintenance per year as well.

In summary, buy one if you prefer the driving experience, which we have so far.

Very hawt. Where did you take delivery?
The Minneapolis SC can't do deliveries on sight, so they are only doing home deliveries. They brought it to the home we're renting until our new home is finished next month.

It was the last day of the qtr and my delivery specialist said he was doing 13 that day alone.

Actually congrats on both the house and vehicle. Post some house pics when it is done?

Extremely sharp. I hope your family can keep that white interior cleaner than mine could:mccaffery:.

What was you all in price?
Its me and my wife and our dog right now. I'm getting a back seat protector for the pup that will work with future car seats as well. Please pray for me :)

I ordered 2.5 years ago, so my build was about $78k before fees and taxes, etc.

Same build now touches $98k before fees and taxes.
