So you have Chris Babb and Nick Weiler-Babb. Brothers. Both played at Iowa State. But who was more valuable for their team at Iowa State? Pretty equal numbers. Who would you take again?

Senior Year:

Chris Babb (2012-2013): Started all 33 games he competed in, averaging 9.1 points and 3.4 rebounds...one of the Big 12’s top defenders, earning Big 12 All-Defense honors...second on the team in steals, averaging 1.1 spg...was third on the team in 3-pointers with 65, tying for 14th on ISU’s single-season chart

Nick Weiler-Babb (2018-2019): Started all 35 games ... averaged 9.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.3 steals, making him only player in Big 12 to reach each of those benchmarks ... was second in the league in assists and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.5)

I'm going with Chris but it's close. Chris was maybe slightly better on defense and hit more clutch shots if I recall. Probably a better 3 point shooter too

I appreciate NWB's approach and play, but Chris was a big time player that sacrificed his offensive stats for being the single defender in Hoiball while he was here. His 3 pt% would have been much better had he not been face guarding the opponents best player every single game. His size, defense and 3pt shooting is just unmatched and was a special talent.

I'm with everyone saying Chris. Loved them both but Chris locking down the other team's best player was fun to watch.

I do think there's a bit of nostalgia happening though. Chris was part of those early Hoiberg teams that got ISU back on the map. Nick was unfortunately stuck with the Prohm years, even though they were successful his years.

My guess is if you switch these guys, we'd all be saying Nick.

Chris for me.

Nick became a very steady presence at the end and exceeded what I thought he was capable of though. I have similar sentiments about Diante. Diante's senior season was a very nice surprise.

It makes sense to compare their senior years, but I'd add that in Nick's junior year, he averaged 11.3 ppg, 7 rbp, and 6.8 apg.

I maintain that Nick's ceiling was really high if he had stayed healthy. He had that run in non-conference his junior year where he could take over when the team needed him to, and otherwise was an excellent facilitator and rebounder. Then, nagging injuries slowed him down in conference play, and with the talent of the team his senior year he was able to take a half step back and maintain his health as more of a role player.

Chris because of defense. If you wanted to slow someone down from the other team put Chris on them.
I think the phrase was put them on Babb Island.
