Will there be another sports year as good as 2000 was anytime soon?

2000 was a heck of a year across the board:

Men's BBall - Big 12 conference champs, Big 12 Tournament champs, Elite 8 appearance

Women's BBall - Big 12 confernce champs, Big 12 Tournament champs, Sweet 16 appearance

Football - 9-3 overall record culminating in big win at Insight.com bowl.

I remember saying it at the time and certainly in my lifetime of following ISU sports (37yrs) this was the best it has been.

Will we see this level of success again?

I doubt we see that much success at that level ALL in the same year again. I REALLY hope Im wrong.

Until we go to a January bowl, no. But if we ever go, then no matter what the other sports do the answer is yes.

Would need to be a BCS bowl. I don't think the Cotton bowl would do it for me to rate over 2000 overall.

I could definitely see a year where we get a decent bowl game, both basketball teams in the NCAA (maybe even sweet 16), AND a national title in wrestling. I think that would be better overall. It will be tough to match that year though.

IIRC they just missed making the final top 6 meet at the end of the year (they were rated #7)

I really consider myself lucky to be in school at that time. I still remember isufbcurt telling me at the beginning of the year, how one of the fb coaches had heard that our new point guard was the best ballhandler one of our assistant bball coaches had ever seen. I shrugged it off as some Bill Walton type comment, where everything is the premiere, or best he'd ever seen.....obviously Melmel made us believers.

99-01 was a good time to be in Ames, I timed it all about right...

Will be tough to beat but could be done if either team does a little better and the other is still in a bowl/ncaa

I thought 2004 was a good year, ISU was one of only 5 schools nationwide to have their mens and womens basketball make the NCAA Tournament and the football team win a bowl game.

My projection is 2012-13 after we win the Big 12 tournament and the football North abd resurrect the baseball team to the CWS and a Clone makes it to the Olympics in wrestling. Just watch. We have only just begun to fight. Pride rises to the top.
